Work Experience Opportunities

Are you interested in what goes on behind the scenes of an art gallery?

If you have a keen interest in art and are considering a creative career in the future, Turner Contemporary are offering work experience placements in June and July 2020 for GCSE or A Level age students. Our week-long placements are a great opportunity to gain insight into what it’s like to work for an arts organisation, and develop your creative and interpersonal skills.

From shadowing our gallery assistants and navigators in the galleries, to working with different members of the team in the office, our work experience week is designed to give you an overview of some of the different departments in the gallery.

The week will also give you the opportunity to earn a Bronze Arts Award, a valuable qualification to add to your CV. You’ll complete creative activities to develop your art skills and reflect on your experiences in a portfolio, which we’ll send off for a certificate. You can find out more about the Bronze Arts Award here.

I have learned so much about what happens behind the scenes and how much work is put into all the different exhibitions. I will always remember the experience.” Jacob, work experience student

Zoe really enjoyed the week and found it very useful and educational and it has certainly given her plenty to think about in terms of how she might develop a career in the Arts.” Yvette Warner, parent
