How do I book?

All visitors must now have a ticket to enter and must book these in advance. Booking will be available very soon.

If it’s ticketed does that mean we have to pay?

No, entry is still completely free. The ticketing system is designed to help us manage capacity at any given time and help keep visitors and staff safe.

How many people can I book at a time?

Help us manage our capacity to keep you and staff safe – please ensure that you include the correct number of people visiting from your household on the booking. You can book up to 6 people from the same household. If you are visiting with friends, please make sure that you book each household separately.  On your arrival, please present a printed copy of your booking, or a digital one. A member of the team will be able to check you in touch free by scanning your barcode or by looking up your name.

What safety measures are in place to keep us safe?

We are managing capacity by using the new booking system, mentioned above. There is now a one-way system around the gallery which is clearly marked and will help implement social distancing. Hand sanitiser stations will be in place throughout. Signs and staff will be there to clearly help you navigate your way around. For more in-depth details, please read our Plan Your Visit page.

What do I need to bring with me?

A printed or digital version of your ticket. Face covering must be worn inside the gallery. Please bring one with you and any other PPE you normally use. Our lockers are currently closed so please avoid bringing bulky or large items.

Is there anywhere to buy refreshments?

Unfortunately, our café will not be operating at this time so there are no refreshments facilities onsite. However, Margate has wonderful food and drink spots for you to enjoy. Browse Visit Thanet for info.

Is your shop open?

Yes! We have a great selection of products and gifts for you to buy. We will be operating with a one-way system in place. Only contactless payments will be accepted at this time. You can also browse our online shop here and place a click and collect order for your visit.

If I’m unable to make my pre-booked slot, can I come again another time?

Of course! Rebooking is easy and you can visit as many times as you want. Importantly, if you are sick or fall into one of the vulnerable groups then you must postpone your visit until it safe for you to do so.

Are you fully accessible?

Of course. Turner Contemporary is still fully accessible for visitors and we aim to be as welcoming and inclusive as possible. Although we have had to change some procedures slightly to keep our visitors safe in light of COVID-19. We have wheelchairs available to pre book when you book your tickets. They will be cleaned before and after each use. Please book at the time of selecting your tickets. We also have large text captions available on request that will also be cleaned before and after each use. It is important to note, however, that we have had to remove all seating from our internal spaces. If you would like a portable folding stool please ask a member of the team upon check in. We will make sure it is sanitised before and after it has been used.

Do you have toilet facilities?

Yes, but with new safety measures and procedures in place. Each person or household can use male (2 cubicles), female (5 cubicles) or accessible toilets. We are operating on a one in one out system. Please sanitise your hands before entering the toilets. Please wash your hands after and use hand dryers. Please give priority to the accessible toilets to those who require them.  Please wear a mask. Please close the lid before flushing.

Are you doing any school visits?

Unfortunately not at this time. Although we would love to welcome back school groups and group visits, we are unable to do so with current restrictions in place. Please keep an eye on our website for any further updates on this.

Do you have lockers?

Normally, yes. But they can not be used at this time in order to keep our visitors safe. Please travel light and only bring what you need when you visit the gallery as we can’t offer our public locker facilities and we do not have a cloakroom.
