Support > Why donate?

Turner Contemporary is one of the most distinctive galleries in the UK, showcasing the best in contemporary and historical art, and leading successful culture-led regeneration.

We are a charity that relies on donations to continue our outstanding work.

Our vision is Art Inspiring Change. Our ambition is to make world-class art accessible to everyone, by helping every visitor to look at the world differently.

Your support can help us to make a real difference to the lives of thousands of people, in and around Margate.

  • By bringing world-class art and events to the gallery
  • Through inspiring education and community projects
  • By contributing to the vital regeneration of one of the UK’s most deprived districts

If you are interested in supporting our gallery, our Development Team would love to talk to you.

"Perhaps the sharpest and most dramatic example [of cultural regeneration] that I have come across lies on the East Kent coast, where something quite magical has taken place."
Sir Peter Bazalgette, Arts Council Chair

"Whenever I visit Turner Contemporary,  it is full of people, it's clearly a very much-loved place. The gallery is  geared to work with contemporary art which ensures they get the best out of us artists."
Jeremy Deller, Artist

"I never imagined that my family and grandchildren would have the opportunity to walk into a local gallery to view world-class art. Now they do."

Make a donation

I would like Turner Contemporary to claim Gift Aid on my donation. I am a UK taxpayer and understand that if I pay less Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax in the current tax year than the amount of Gift Aid claimed on all my donations it is my responsibility to pay any difference. I understand that Turner Contemporary will reclaim 25p of tax on every £1 that I give.

Remember to Gift Aid it

Every donation you make to Turner Contemporary (including donations in our on-site donation boxes) could be worth even more if you Gift Aid it. Doing this means that you can boost the value of your donation by 25p for every £1 donated. This works by adding the tax that you have already paid on the amount to your donation  - meaning that it doesn't cost you a penny!

How Gift Aid works

It’s very simple. You just need to give us your permission by signing a Gift Aid declaration form allowing us to claim tax back on your donation. It also means that we can claim tax back on any donation that you have given to us in the last four years.

Am I eligible for Gift Aid?

You are eligible if you are a UK tax payer.

Donate your tax rebate

If you have been fortunate enough to get a tax rebate, why not donate all, or part of it, to Turner Contemporary? All you need to do is add our registered number CR45914 in the appropriate box on the self-assessment form.
