Thanet Big Sing Community Choir Performance
A choral response to the We Will Walk – Art and Resistance in the American South exhibition.
Thanet Big Sing Community Choir, resident choir at Turner Contemporary, is performing a choral response to our current exhibition, We Will Walk – Art and Resistance in the American South.
Tony Castro, Music Director and conductor for the Thanet Big Sing Community Choir, has curated and arranged a collection of music, which consists of less-familiar British protest songs (and one familiar French one).
The songs for this bespoke concert give voice to the plight of the common folk in the face of adversity including songs protesting land rights, the corn laws, women’s rights, the Kentish miners’ strike, civil rights and inequality.
The Thanet Big Sing Community Choir was formed in 2011 to celebrate the opening of Turner Contemporary, and has remained the resident choir ever since.
The performance will take place at 12pm and 2pm on Saturday 28 March in the Foyle Rooms at Turner Contemporary.
