Practical Information for Your Visit
Open Tuesday – Sunday, 10am – 5pm.
Closed on Mondays, apart from on bank holidays.
When an exhibition at Turner Contemporary finishes and ahead of an installation of new one there is a short period called changeover which means that the gallery, cafe and shop are open as usual but there may be a limited amount of artwork to see.
We will flag changeover periods on the website and social media but please check before you visit if you want to come and see something specific.
Our next changeover period is: September 28-October 20 2021
Turner Contemporary is located in Margate on the North Kent Cost in the South East of England.
Margate is only a 90 minute drive or train journey from Central London.
Exhibitions at Turner Contemporary are free for all to enjoy. We run a rolling programme of workshops and events.
Travelling by car
There is ample parking across Margate which is within a 3-10 minute walk from the Gallery.
There are seven accessible parking spaces on the piazza at the front of the gallery. These spaces are signposted. The seafront piazza is for pedestrians and cyclists only and must be kept clear at all times for the RNLI lifeboat in case of emergencies.
There is a new pay and display car park beyond the RNLI car park on Rendezvous.
There is on-street parking near the gallery (on the Harbour Arm next to the gallery, charges apply), as well as pay and display car parks close by:
- College Square (Morrison’s multi storey) CT9 1QA
- Trinity Square CT9 1HR
