We are recruiting for a Head of Commercial to join our Business and Operations team.
Job Title: Head of Commercial

Hours of work: 5 days per week, Monday-Friday
Salary: £45,000.00 per year

The Head of Commercial leads Turner Contemporary and Turner Contemporary Enterprises, our trading subsidiary company which gifts its profits back to the gallery. This crucial role oversees the generation of essential funds to support our internationally renowned exhibitions, learning and community programmes. This pivotal role comes at an exciting moment as we launch our new brand identity, offering a unique opportunity to shape our commercial future aligned with our refreshed visual presence and strategic direction.
As a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will drive sustainable revenue growth across multiple income streams including commercial events, venue hire, retail operations (both on-site and online), educational courses, corporate partnerships, and our café franchise. Working closely with the Director of Business and Operations and the Head of Marketing and Communications, you will ensure our commercial activity is integrated with our operational capabilities and brand strategy. Your entrepreneurial vision will be instrumental in developing innovative commercial strategies that both generate income and enhance the visitor experience.

We are recruiting for a Gallery Manager to join our Facilities & Operations team.

Hours of work: 5 days per week, Monday-Friday
Salary: £40,000.00 per year

The Gallery Manager oversees the practical and technical aspects of exhibition delivery at Turner Contemporary and the day-to-day management of the building and its facilities. Working to oversee all aspects of estate management, the role ensures the building meets the highest presentation standards, fulfils all health and safety obligations in our duty of care to visitors and staff, and operates efficiently and cost effectively. In particular, the post collaborates across all departments in the gallery to realise our on-site activity with full consideration for public engagement, access, and interpretation.
The post manages a Senior Technician (4 days p/w) and Building Maintenance Coordinator (5 days p/w). The Senior Technician maintains the pool of freelance technicians, oversees grounds maintenance teams to ensure exceptional building presentation. The Building Maintenance Coordinator ensures the building maintenance operations are delivered by carrying out regular assessments and checks and working with external contractors to deliver repairs.

The Building Maintenance Coordinator will support the Gallery Manager in ensuring that the building, its facilities, external areas, and the gallery environment are maintained to the highest possible standards to provide a first-class visitor experience. This role will take a proactive approach to building maintenance and serve as the primary day-to-day coordinator for maintenance operations.

The Retail Coordinator plays a crucial role in Turner Contemporary's commercial operations, directly supporting our Head of Commercial in coordinating and overseeing our vibrant retail offering. This position supervises the day-to-day operations of our gallery shop, online store, and artist editions programme, which together generate vital income through Turner Contemporary Enterprises to support our artistic and educational mission.
