Code of Conduct
Turner Contemporary is committed to creating a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment for our staff, collaborators, and visitors. We will not tolerate abuse or violence towards any visitor, contractor or member of staff, or any form of harassment or discrimination on the grounds of age, disability, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, ethnicity, race, religion.
If our staff believe your behaviour risks the safety and comfort of others, our building or artworks, they will ask you to stop, and you may be asked to leave. Our staff have the authority to remove you from any of our spaces if necessary.

Respect and inclusion in our gallery spaces
We have a zero-tolerance approach to discrimination, harassment, or abusive behavior of any kind. This includes threats, verbal abuse, intimidation, unwanted physical contact, and discriminatory remarks related to age, disability, gender identity, race, religion, or sexual orientation.
If anyone behaves in a way that goes against these values, they will be asked to stop or leave, and if necessary, the police will be contacted. Together, we can make Turner a positive and respectful space for everyone.
Respect and inclusion in our online spaces
Connecting with our audiences online is integral to Turner Contemporary.
Like our galleries, we want our social media platforms to be open and accessible. We invite you to follow, share and respond to our content.
We recognise that art often challenges and provokes us. Whilst we encourage debate and feedback, we do not tolerate abuse or discrimination. Anything that contravenes the guidelines for our online communities will be removed. We are likely to remove comments that share third party links directing to other websites. We reserve the right to block repeat offenders.
To help everyone enjoy our social media platforms, our guidelines for our online community are as follows:
- We encourage you to come with an open mind and promote healthy and constructive interactions with the wider community.
- Respect that other people in the community may have a different perspective. We welcome different viewpoints.
- Verbal abuse and swearing, or swear words with certain letters replaced will not be tolerated, comments of this nature will automatically be removed from our platforms.
- Inappropriate, threatening, offensive, unlawful, harassing, defamatory, harmful, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, racially offensive, or otherwise objectionable or abusive comments or images will be reported to the platform and removed.
- Anything that promotes hatred, abuse, or discrimination will be reported to the platform and removed from our platforms.
- Respect the privacy of others and protect your own. Our platforms are public: do not post personal information that you would not be comfortable sharing publicly or personal information about others
- Contributions should be polite, constructive, and not intended to cause trouble.
- Do not submit the same or very similar contributions multiple times.
- Do not promote, market, or advertise commercially.
