Playful family screenings, sensory cinema, and creative making with Turner Contemporary and Small World Cinema

Part of a new, year-round family film and creative programme with Small World Cinema, offering imaginative cinema experiences for children and families.

Film screenings are paired with sensory play, hands-on making and creative activities, creating shared experiences that encourage children and families to explore cinema together.

Morning Session: Cinemini

10.30am–11.45am
Suitable for ages 2–5

A specially designed film event for young children and their grown-ups, featuring short films, sensory play and creative exploration inspired by the magic of cinema.

Cinemini creates a welcoming and inclusive environment for families to discover film together through light, shadow, colour, reflections, movement and play. Children are encouraged to explore freely, responding to the films and activities in their own way.

Created in collaboration with Small World Cinema.

Afternoon Session: Make Some Noise!

Creative Activity: 1.30pm
Film Screening: 2.30pm–3.40pm
Suitable for ages 6+

Suitable for all ages; some elements are recommended for ages 6+.

Small World Cinema returns to Turner Contemporary with Make Some Noise!, an interactive family workshop which explores the magic of sound in film.

Children will learn about the fascinating world of Foley (the art of creating sound effects for film) using everyday objects to recreate everything from galloping horses and croaking frogs to crackling fires and rolling thunder. They'll also make their own simple musical instrument to take home.

After the workshop, families are invited to enjoy a delightful programme of animated short films celebrating sound, rhythm and music. Together, the workshop and screening offer a playful introduction to the craft of filmmaking and a chance to experience cinema in a whole new way.

This project is supported by the BFI Film Audience Network and National Lottery funding.

Tickets: Children £3.50 | Adults £5 | Family Ticket (2 adults + 2 children) £15

Please note: separate tickets are required for each event session.
