Playful family screenings, sensory cinema, and creative making with Turner Contemporary and Small World Cinema

Part of a new family film and creative programme with Small World Cinema, bringing imaginative cinema experiences and playful creative activities to children, young people, and families throughout the year.

Bringing together screenings, creative activities, sensory play, and hands-on making, the programme invites young audiences to explore storytelling, colour, light, movement, and sound through playful shared experiences designed to spark curiosity and creativity.

Morning Session: Cinemini

10.30am–11.45am
Suitable for ages 2–5

A specially designed film event for young children and their grown-ups, featuring short films, sensory play, and creative exploration inspired by the magic of cinema.

Cinemini creates a welcoming and inclusive environment for families to discover film together through light, shadow, colour, reflections, movement, and play. Children are encouraged to explore freely, responding to the films and activities in their own way.

Created in collaboration with Small World Cinema.

Afternoon Session: 'Arco' Film Screening and Rainbow Kaleidoscope Making

Creative Activity: 1.30pm
Film Screening: 2.30pm–4.00pm
Suitable for ages up to 11

Inspired by the imaginative world of 'Arco', this colourful afternoon invites children and families to explore creativity, play, and future worlds through film and making.

Before the screening, families are invited to create their own rainbow kaleidoscope and experiment with colour, reflection, and light through a playful drop-in creative activity developed by Small World Cinema for Turner Contemporary.

The screening follows the story of Arco, a young time traveller who secretly borrows his sister’s rainbow-making costume and crash-lands in the year 2075. With the help of his new friend Iris and her robot companion Miki, Arco sets off on an adventure to recover his missing prism and find a way home.

Filled with imagination, wonder, and vibrant visuals, Arco celebrates friendship, possibility, and seeing the world differently.

This project is supported by the BFI Film Audience Network and National Lottery funding.

Tickets: Children £3.50 | Adults £5 | Family Ticket (2 adults + 2 children) £15

Please note: separate tickets are required for each event session.
