Join us for an evening of live music, delicious food, creative workshops and late-night energy in this Turner Lates, inspired by Hulda Guzmán.

Explore the gallery as it transforms into a space for music, making, conversation and discovery. Inspired by Guzmán's lush paintings and recurring themes of nature, transformation and the shadow self, this Turner Lates invites you to slow down, connect with others and experience the exhibition in unexpected ways. 

The evening features an intimate live performance from acclaimed singer-songwriter Yazmin Lacey, whose soulful blend of jazz, R&B and electronic influences offers a fitting soundtrack to Guzmán's richly layered world. 

Join award-nominated poet Rachel Long for a creative writing workshop inspired by the exhibition's themes of nature, identity and the shadow self, or drop into a mindful making session with sustainable designer Eirinn Hayhow, exploring self-expression through natural materials, foraging and craft. 

Discover the exhibition through new senses with a special exploration of the scents that accompany the exhibition led by Robin Bayley, and connect with the exhibition at a deeper level through highlight tours led by our Gallery Assistants. 

Throughout the evening, vibrant plant-based food by Denai Moore will be on offer, who’s celebrated supper club, Dee's Table, has been serving dishes inspired by Jamaican flavours and global influences to appreciative tables all over the UK. Bespoke cocktails, floral installations and an immersive scented welcome created with Dulcie complete the atmosphere. 

As the evening unfolds, Reggy Brown of Margate Radio will provide a warm, organic soundtrack with a DJ set drawing on cumbia, surf psych, Mexican rancheras and other root-driven sounds.

About Yazmin Lacey

Yazmin’s journey into music began with love and intuition rather than ambition. Born in East London and initially dedicated to youth work across Nottingham and Leicester, her passion for community building laid the foundation for her confidence and creativity, traits that now shape her music. Starting her music career at 27, she vowed to follow her instincts rather than chase fame, a mindset that continues to guide her deeply emotive work. With ‘Teal Dreams' arriving two years after her acclaimed debut, Yazmin continues to challenge conventional beauty standards and inspire fans who see themselves reflected in her. Beyond music, her artistry extends to radio with her Rinse FM show Morning Matters, a 'feel-good wake-up call' where her warmth, personality, and taste shine through.

About Rachel Long

Rachel Long’s debut, My Darling from the Lions (2020), was shortlisted for the Forward Prize, The Costa Book Award, The Sunday Times Young Writer of the Year Award, and the Jhalak Prize Book of the Year by a Writer of Colour. She was born in London, and now lives in Margate. Her second collection, Sparrow on the Rooftop was published by Chatto & Windus, in June 2026. 

Eirinn Hayhow

Eirinn Hayhow creates immersive worlds that explore relationships between human and more-than-human bodies through living materials. Working with foraged botanicals, biomaterials, natural pigments, hemp fibres and other plant-based fibres, she approaches natural materials as living collaborators, allowing transformation, decay and regeneration to shape the work. Drawing on folklore, ecology and sensory experience, she creates sculptural objects, wearable works and immersive environments where imagined beings emerge from the landscape and the boundaries between the natural and the mythical begin to dissolve. Rooted in care for the more-than-human world, her practice reflects on beauty and impermanence, inviting audiences to cultivate deeper relationships with living systems through touch, scent and material encounter, creating spaces where fragility becomes a source of strength and transformation.

About Robin Bayley

With 11 years in the skincare and fragrance industry at Dulcie, Robin Bayley has developed a passion for capturing memories, places, art, and the natural world through scent. Over the course of his career, he has had the privilege of collaborating with talented architects, artists, and musicians, working alongside them to develop fragrances and natural extracts. Robin loves engaging with people about scent and discovering new ideas for fragrances and the vessels that carry them.

About Denai Moore 

Denai Moore is an artist, songwriter, & chef, who has carved her own lane in the UK music industry for several years. She first commanded attention with her feature on SBTRKT's 2014 album Wonder Where We Land at the age of 21 and since then, the Jamaican-British artist has made waves with her three solo album releases. Drawing critical acclaim from The Guardian, The FADER, The Independent and many more. Denai started her supper club Dee’s Table in 2017 as a way of reconnecting with her childhood tongue. Whilst her recipes honour her early upbringing in Jamaica, Denai is inspired by her expansive travels around the world, and the vibrant, diverse London food scene. Denai’s food is heart focused and aims to inspire the modern-day adventurous cook. Her debut cookbook ‘Plentiful - Vegan Jamaican Recipes To Repeat’ showcases how bold and exciting veg cookery can be. 

About Reggy Brown (DJ)

Reggy Brown, host of ‘The Spin’ on Margate Radio and founder of Disco Psicodélico, draws inspiration from her California- Mexican household upbringing. Showcasing root driven genres; Latin Son Jarocho, Psychedelic Cumbia, Psych-funk, Cumbia Amazonia, Mexican Discotheque, and TropiFunk. Reggy’s performances demonstrate her eclectic sonidos, full of warmth and connected to her family heritage. Recently bringing the Latin soundscape at Tate Lates for Tracey Emin’s retrospective at the Tate Modern and opening for Mexican music legends, Nortec: Bostich + Fussible.
