Featuring Speakers Corner Quartet.

Join us for an unforgettable evening of live music, experimental sound, creativity and late-night energy in this Turner Lates, curated by Margate Radio as part of Off Season 2026.

The evening begins in the Sunley Gallery, where Grace Attlee (Margate Radio) will set the mood. South London-based Speakers Corner Quartet perform live in the Foyle Rooms from 7–8.30 pm.

In the Drawing Studio, experimental sound artist Chase Coley will perform live on their newly developed acoustic string instrument, creating an immersive, calming soundscape for drawing and deep listening.

Take inspiration from the exhibition and explore your ideas at the Drawing Station in the Selman Gallery, with materials and prompts to help guide your creative response.

Fuel the night with delicious NY-style food in Louie On Sea and a bar in the Sunley Gallery. The night doesn't stop there with Groundations After Party @ Hoffs, featuring DJs Paul Camo and Raggamuffin, from 9pm–2am.

About Speakers Corner Quartet

Speakers Corner Quartet is a genre-defying band rooted in friendship, love, and the transformative power of music. Formed in 2006 as the house band for Brixton Jamm’s iconic open mic night, the group—flautist Biscuit, drummer Kwake Bass, violinist Raven Bush, and bassist Peter Bennie—has been making music together for over two decades. Their improvisational style and innovative compositions have helped shape South London’s vibrant musical landscape.

Deeply embedded in the community, they’ve collaborated with artists like Sampha, Kae Tempest, Tirzah, and Shabaka Hutchings, while nurturing rising talent such as Joe Armon-Jones. Their journey has included standout performances at Glastonbury and Montreux Jazz Festival, an Ivor Novello Award for “Geronimo Blues” featuring Kae Tempest, and sold-out shows at the Barbican and Bourse de Commerce. They also composed and performed new works with a 35-piece orchestra for Meltdown Festival, led a pioneering ICA residency exploring music and robotics, and scored the two-time BAFTA-winning BBC series Mr Loverman. Ever-evolving, Speakers Corner Quartet continues to push boundaries with a sound distinctively their own.

About Chase Coley

Chase Coley is an experimental sound artist and natural science educator. Chase's instrument-making practice is a point of departure that interrogates the choreography of movements, actions and intentions, to produce new acoustic instruments.

About Grace Attlee

Grace is an artist, creative producer and facilitator, working across illustration, sound, literature and the intersection of the senses.

Grace also curates and facilitates live experiences—having delivered cross-disciplinary courses and programmes for over a decade. She takes creative inspiration from bold colour, cycles in the natural world, archives, comics and collaborative processes with others.
