A creative writing workshop shaped by winter tides, shifting bodies and the stories held in saltwater.
About the Event
Salt in the Wound is a creative writing workshop inspired by Turner Contemporary’s sweeping views of the winter sea. Together we will explore how erosion, renewal, harm and repair mirror the changing body, drawing on writers and artists whose work is shaped by the ocean.
Beginning outside, we’ll take in the coastline — its colours, sounds and textures, and the weathered Antony Gormley figure held in the tide — a body revealed and consumed in continual rhythm. Returning indoors, we will write with the coastline as collaborator, considering what the sea can teach us about endurance, vulnerability, transformation and the stories our bodies carry.
This workshop offers a reflective, sensory, imaginative space for exploring tender themes with care and curiosity.
Participants are asked to bring a notebook and pen.
Suitable for ages 18+
