About the Event

Drum Therapy with Leon is a powerful and uplifting community workshop that brings people together through rhythm, movement and shared experience. This one-hour session offers a supportive space where participants can explore sound, release tension and reconnect with themselves and others.

The session is gently structured while allowing plenty of freedom for personal expression. Leon works with three core drum sounds, bass, tone and slap or flam, which are introduced in a simple, engaging way and gradually developed throughout the class. No musical experience is needed, and the focus is not on performance or skill, but on the wellbeing benefits of rhythm, presence and play.

Drum Therapy is particularly supportive for people living with anxiety, depression or addiction, as well as those seeking connection and team building. Everyone is welcome, and participants are encouraged to take part in a way that feels comfortable and natural for them.

Drums are provided, although participants are also welcome to bring their own.

About the Practitioner

Leon is a dance and fitness instructor with over thirty years of experience and is the founder of Leon’s Ultimate Mind and Body Activities. In 2024 he attended a Rhythm2Recovery coaching workshop, a two day programme focused on social connection, trust, focus and emotional expression through the use of the djembe drum.

His work also draws on the historical practice of body percussion as a way to connect with the inner self. Leon is currently studying a psychology foundation course at the British School of Yoga and continues to deepen his understanding of how rhythm, movement and sound support emotional and mental wellbeing.
