Ready to think on your feet, surprise yourself, and laugh a lot along the way?

Learn the art of long-form improv: quick thinking, fearless creativity, and discover a whole new level of camaraderie with classmates and castmates.

This 8-week course introduces you to the fundamental principles of the FA style of long-form improvisation. You'll build confidence, learn how to create compelling long-form scenes, and—most importantly—have fun!

What you'll learn

You will learn the basic skills of long-form improvisation – actively listening and co-operating with team mates, “yes-and", the freedom to play and be spontaneous, and an introduction to improvised scene work.

  • The core skills of long-form improv: active listening, teamwork, and the power of 'yes, and.'
  • How to improvise a full scene from a single word suggestion.
  • The art of space work and physical storytelling.
  • Why commitment matters in every scene.
  • The confidence to perform an improvised scene from start to finish.

By the end of the course, you'll have completed The Free Association's Level 1: Intro to Long Form Improv.

Who's it for?

The course is open to everyone, regardless of previous experience. If you've tried a little improv before but want to get to grips with long-form, this is the place to start.
