Learn the Victorian art of gilding as you create your own festive decoration.
In this relaxed workshop, you will learn how to prepare and gild a beautiful walnut decoration that you can take home in its own gift box.
Enjoy a complementary glass of prosecco, Nosecco or Elderflower fizz as you learn how to apply the size (glue) and metal leaf to your walnut before finishing with a velvet hanging ribbon – please wear something you don’t mind getting sparkly!
This workshop is part of the Margate Jewellery Showcase taking place at Turner on 13 and 14 December 2025.
About the artist
Carrie Webb creates one-off design-led furniture, lighting, and homewares from her studio in Margate. Her bold and contemporary pieces are sustainably made from reclaimed materials and often feature techniques such as marbling and gilding. Both environmentally friendly and luxurious, her work perfectly blends style with sustainability in a modern and exciting way.
