Join artist Will Ford for a family-friendly puppet-making workshop and help create a giant butterfly and mini caterpillars for the Margate Pride parade.
In the lead-up to this year’s Margate Pride, you can be part of an ongoing project to build a giant puppet to be marched through town during the Pride Day parade.
In this free, drop-in workshop you can help make, craft, and create our butterfly, as well as making your own smaller puppet to take home.
About William Ford
William Ford is a queer artist based in Margate. He has an ever changing practice with ideas of performance, play and sensing at its core. He has a background in creating sculpture, both kinetic and still and enacting performances, for the camera and live. He has since moved on from exhibiting these in a traditional gallery space and has progressed to live events, under the name LesBeauX, where interactive artworks and audience participation are key.

About Margate Pride
Margate Pride is a community-led celebration of LGBTQIA+ life, creativity, and activism. It brings people together through diverse events—from parades and art trails to social gatherings and advocacy platforms—championing inclusivity and fostering meaningful connections. Proudly grassroots and non-profit, Margate Pride relies on community support to create free, accessible events that inspire and empower all.
