This half term, award-winning theatre and animation company 1927 are taking over the Clore Studio for a drop-in stop-motion animation workshop inspired by Anna Boghiguian's illustrative style and world-building.
Lurking in the depths, down in the kelpy gloom, strange beings dwell.
Creatures of your imagination. Beings from your dreams. Monsters that coil and gyre - inexplicable, mysterious, unfathomable and unseen... until now!
Join members of the artistic team behind the renowned theatre company 1927, in collaboration with Margate Film Festival, for a free drop-in animation workshop like no other.
Create your own animated Sea Monster, inspired by the depths of imagination and the mysteries of the ocean. Bring your monsters to the surface – it is time we saw them and said hello.
About 1927
1927 is a multi-award-winning Margate and London based performance company specialising in combining performance and live music with animation and film to create magical filmic performances. Founded in 2005 by writer, director & performer Suzanne Andrade and animator & illustrator Paul Barritt, 1927 works across the performance fields of theatre, opera, music and film.
About the Margate Film Festival

Margate Film Festival is a not-for-profit, creative & cinematic arts organisation running since 2018, established to build communities and culture through film screenings and events. Now in its 6th edition, the festival showcases a range of local and international films, enriched by live performance, Q&As, exhibitions and public installations.
Margate Film Festival 2025 is a 5-day festival of film and moving image, exploring cultural politics, feminism, music, creativity and compassion. The festival runs from 26th-30th November in venues across Margate.
