An Apple a Day
For all ages
Nature and learning perfectly paired
An Apple a Day is a creative teaching resource bringing nature into your classroom. It’s filled with engaging activities using apples, orchards and the natural world to teach a wide range of subjects. While it’s perfect for autumn, it can be used at any time of year to plan your own apple-themed STEAM day or week. Inspiring your students with fun, hands-on learning across the curriculum.
The project was inspired by artist Anya Gallaccio, who uses natural materials like apples in her artwork. We collaborated with local primary schools in Kent to create the resource, learning everything there is to know about apples along the way. Like, when life gives you apples… you make apple juice.
To celebrate the project, the school children involved will take part in planting a new orchard, designed by Anya at Lees Court over the winter which, will become a living artwork and outdoor classroom.
This film documents the planning of Anya’s designs for the orchard at Lees Court with the help of students from the local primary schools.
