Tours and Workshops

This 90-minute workshop invites participants to learn how personal photographic collections can play an important role in preserving and narrating British history. After visiting the exhibition, the group will look through a selection of photographs of family life, friendships, neighbourhoods, work and leisure. The group will discuss why the photographs were taken and what they tell us about the people in them, learning how to preserve images using archive techniques.

- Suitable for all ages, we can adapt the session according to needs.

Adventure outside of the gallery to experience Margate and the elements through the eyes of landscape painter J.M.W. Turner. During this interactive tour, you will learn about Margate’s local heritage, develop your observational skills, enjoy mark-making and create your own watercolour painting, inspired by the dramatic surrounding scenery. This session is great for creative mindfulness.
This tour is designed to run in all weather conditions. Please ensure everyone is appropriately dressed for the weather and the beach. In extreme weather conditions the tour will be modified to run inside the gallery with shorter elements of outside painting.

A fast-paced, hands-on session where your group will be guided through our current exhibition and encouraged to think critically, spark their curiosity and develop their creative skills before taking part in a making activity that explores a key piece in the gallery.

A gallery tour but not as you know it! Your group will be guided through our current exhibition and encouraged to think critically, spark their curiosity and develop their creative skills with our unique gallery games. -

- Best for EYFS and Reception. Suitable for Key Stage 1, and younger SEND groups.
- £3.50 per head + VAT, minimum of 10 per group (or minimum cost £35 + VAT). Maximum 30.

Using tactile materials and their imagination, pupils are guided through an interactive tour of the exhibition before making a collaborative response amongst the surrounding artwork with the materials provided.
