Job Responsibilities:
This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact at a pivotal moment for Turner Contemporary. Following the launch of our new brand identity in 2025, the gallery is continuing to build on its reputation through it’s world-class artistic programme. Recent exhibitions have featured artists including David Hockney, Bridget Riley, Simone Leigh, Steve McQueen and Anya Gallaccio.
We are seeking a motivated and inspiring leader, full of energy and ideas, to lead and grow Turner Contemporary’s fundraising. The postholder will be responsible for generating all fundraised income by maximising fundraising activity, ensuring income targets are achieved, donor stewardship is exceptional, and that a clear strategic approach to fundraising is maintained. In the financial year 2025/26, the gallery is on track to raise over £1m from corporates, individuals, and trusts and foundations. This represents approximately 26% of Turner Contemporary’s total income.
You will lead the Development team and bring a strong and demonstrable track record of fundraising success. This should include experience of bid writing, securing and stewarding gifts from high-net-worth individuals, trusts and foundations, corporate sponsorship, legacy giving, and effective relationship management. The role will work closely with the Board of Trustees and the Fundraising and Development Subcommittee and will be a member of the gallery’s Strategic Leadership Team (SLT), contributing to the organisation’s wider strategic direction.
We are looking for an ambitious and driven individual with a broad range of fundraising skills and experience. You may already be working in a similar role within the charity sector, or you may currently work in fundraising within the corporate sector and be looking to bring your expertise to an innovative cultural organisation. Based in Margate, this role will play a vital part in enabling Turner Contemporary to deliver its mission and vision.
