A creative writing workshop exploring our relationship with the sea throughout the seasons

Writing the Tides: An Autumn edition

Join writer Caroline Druitt for a seasonal creative writing workshop inspired by the changing rhythms of the sea, the shifting coastline and the exhibitions at Turner Contemporary. As autumn settles along the coast, explore themes of change, transition, nostalgia and community, using the season as a starting point for new ideas and creative discoveries.

Through readings from a range of genres, visual artworks and guided writing prompts, you’ll explore the connections between observation, memory and imagination, finding inspiration in the landscapes around us and the stories they hold.

Each workshop is designed to stand alone, so you can join us for a single session or return throughout the year to explore the changing seasons, deepen your connection to place and develop your writing practice over time.

Want to develop your writing practice? Join us for the next Writing the Tides workshops as we follow the coastline through the seasons, from winter’s quieter reflections to spring’s fresh perspectives and new beginnings.

This workshop is designed to work as a standalone session, so there’s no need to have attended any of the previous workshops. Whether you’re joining us for the first time or returning to continue your creative journey, it’s an opportunity to deepen your connection to place and discover new directions in your writing practice.

Explore the upcoming workshops:

  • Writing the Tides: A Winter edition — Embrace the stillness of winter and discover what lies beneath the surface through slower, more reflective writing. Explore the workshop
  • Writing the Tides: A Spring edition — Find inspiration in the season of renewal, exploring new beginnings and fresh possibilities through creative writing. Explore the workshop
