Mendez
Mendez is a Jamaican-British novelist. Born in the West Midlands in 1982, their fiction is informed by their upbringing as a Jehovah’s Witness and later engagement with sex work.
Their debut novel, Rainbow Milk, was an Observer Top Ten Best Debuts choice for 2020, and was shortlisted for the Gordon Burn Prize, the Jhalak Prize and the Polari First Novel Prize. They contribute regularly to the London Review of Books, and also work as an audiobook narrator, reading such titles as Pelé’s My Autobiography, Ian Wright’s A Life in Football and Jacob Mchangama’s Free Speech. Currently, they are working on several projects for print and screen.
