Our Commitment to Equity, Diversity and Inclusion
At Turner Contemporary we are committed to promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) in all areas of our work. We stand in solidarity with the fight for racial justice and recognise the importance of being an anti-racist organisation. We have taken meaningful actions to further our commitment to EDI, including a new value of Belonging to underpin our vision and mission and incorporating EDI into our appraisal process. We also support individual training needs in this area and all managers undergo Inclusive Leadership Training. We have established an EDI Steering Group of staff from across the organisation, changed our recruitment process to widen how we promote roles, revised the shortlisting process, and introduced a Code of Conduct. We recognise that our work in this area is ongoing and that is why we are committed to continuous training linked to our appraisal process.
We actively seek input from diverse communities and stakeholders on EDI issues and gather feedback, ideas, and perspectives from staff, visitors, artists, and other partners. We also plan to celebrate our progress by sharing stories and testimonials from individuals who have benefited from our EDI initiatives. We are committed to staying informed and responsive to changing needs and priorities, and we will be guided by the latest research, publications, training, and professional development. We want to create a more inclusive and welcoming environment for all, where everyone feels a sense of belonging and can experience the transformative power of art.
