Assemblage Experiments: University of the Arts London
Clore Learning Studio
The works currently on display in the Clore Learning Studio have been produced by students from Chelsea and Camberwell Schools of Art (part of University for the Arts London), through a three-day workshop with artist Lonnie Holley.
The students worked with Lonnie Holley over a period of three days to create improvised assemblages in direct response to their surroundings and the locally sourced materials.
Assemblage is an art form created by many artists from different backgrounds and cultures. The exhibition We Will Walk – Art and Resistance in the American South has many examples of art created from diverse materials and has been referenced in the workshop for this student project.
Lonnie Holley’s own works can be seen in the exhibition, We Will Walk, which also runs from 7 February – 3 May 2020.
