BSL Tour: The Open 2021
Join co-curator Jason Tennant for a free British Sign Language tour of The Open 2021 at Turner Contemporary.
Saturday 5 Feb: 2pm - 3pm (Fully booked)
To mark our 10th anniversary and ten years on from our first Open, The Turner Contemporary Open 2021 celebrates and showcases the wealth of artistic talent living, working and training in Kent.
Artworks span sculpture, painting, ceramics, film and photography, including work by internationally renowned artists such as Tracey Emin, Rose Wylie and Margo Selby, alongside up-and-coming artists such as Matilda Sutton, Joshua Atkins and Lisa Wright.
The works have been selected by four Thanet-based community groups and collectives: Age UK Thanet, Canvas 4 Equality, Margate Pride and the Turner Contemporary Access Group. These groups have volunteered their time as curators with the support of Turner Contemporary. Each group has taken over a gallery space, in which they have curated their selection of artworks.
This tour is delivered in British Sign Language by Jason Tennant without an interpreter or voiceover. Jason co-curated the Open For Everyone space as part of the Turner Contemporary Access Group. Jason is a Director at Palm Deaf Community Services where he teaches BSL and Deaf Awareness sessions, he is a Deaf Role Model and Mentor to Deaf people in the local community.
Please meet on the balcony.
