'Isle of Sound' Masterwork in the Gallery
There will be the chance to hear all 7 stations – the masterwork of Isle of Sound - in The Foyle Rooms.
Isle of Sound is a new artwork by Emily Peasgood that celebrates the sonic diversity in each part of Thanet. Since 20th August a unique soundscape has been installed in each of Thanet’s 7 train stations: Birchington-on-Sea, Broadstairs, Dumpton Park, Minster, Margate, Ramsgate and Westgate-on-Sea. When all 7 soundscapes are heard together, they form a masterwork.
From 12 – 5pm on Friday 10th abd 10am – 5pm on Saturday 11th December there will be the chance to hear all 7 stations – the masterwork of Isle of Sound – in The Foyle Rooms at Turner Contemporary. Visitors are invited to move amongst speakers that play individual narratives, before entering a central listening zone where the combination of 7 stations form a dynamic masterwork. Artist Emily Peasgood and producer Geoffrey Papin will be present to answer questions about how the work was created with the local community, before the work closes on 17th December.
