Turner Contemporary Rendezvous, Margate, Kent CT9 1HG

Limited capacity.

Come and join some of our young members of the People Dem Collective’s Lived Experience crew and create a fanzine celebrating your Black British Icon.

Using Sonia Boyce’s ‘Devotional Collection’ for inspiration, which honors the substantial contribution of Black British female musicians to public life and transnational culture, you’ll make your very own fanzine with your favorite fandom.

You’ll be given a brief overview of what a fanzine is, and then be provided with an array of supplies to help you create your masterpiece. From magazines, to scissors, tape and glue, we have it all!  We’ll also show you how to construct a fanzine and give you the chance to explore and experiment with different materials and layouts.

When you’re finished, you’ll have a unique and creative Black British Icon fanzine to call your own. Whether you want to share it with others, or just keep it yourself, the fanzine you’ve created is something to be proud of. So roll up your sleeves and get ready to create.

The workshops will be held in our Clore Learning Studio and are free and drop-in. They’re aimed at Primary age children (around 6-12 years old).
