Fri 1 Mar - Sun 19 May 2019

This spring the Koestler Trust will be presenting ‘We Made This’, the prison arts charity’s first exhibition in the South East.

Over 70 artworks made by people in prisons, young offender institutions, secure hospitals and on probation in Kent and Sussex will be on display. Both imaginative in subject matter and in material use, these creations include paintings, sculpture, music, poetry, needlework and craft.

A group of people on probation have curated the exhibition – service users from the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Community Rehabilitation Company (KSSCRC). These curators selected the artworks, shaped the themes and helped to determine the design.

The exhibited artworks are drawn from over 700 works submitted from Kent and Sussex establishments for the 2018 Koestler Awards. For this project, the curators were guided by local artist and facilitator Trish Scott.

As a visitor, if you take a moment to write a feedback card about your favourite piece in the exhibition, it will be sent back to the artist.

The exhibition will take place in Turner Contemporary’s Clore Learning Studio.
