Turner Contemporary Temporary Closure

Stay safe, stay creative and stay well

Turner Contemporary is currently closed until further notice.

We have been taking stock about how we respond as an arts organisation to the Covid19 pandemic. We are urging our audiences to observe the government guidelines. Please stay at home and stay safe. We’d like to take this opportunity to pay tribute to the work of our NHS and all key workers at this challenging time.

Whilst we can’t invite you in to experience our latest exhibition or join a workshop, we want to empower our community to be creative. Many of our team are unable to work remotely, but a small group are working up new ideas. In a world where things are changing daily, our initiatives are being developed quickly and our output might shift as we aim to remain relevant and sustainable now and in the future.

For instance, as well as delivering free resources and art materials into the community through food banks and with partners, we are also exploring the possibility of virtual tours, workshops with artists and live streams. Where we can, we will be using our platforms to champion others and share inspiring, useful content. Our Twitter, Instagram and Facebook will be the best place to keep up with our news and stories.

We have noticed some brilliant initiatives right across our community, with companies bringing their services online and exploring new ways of operating, small businesses going above and beyond to donate provisions for key workers and people volunteering to support the vulnerable. We wanted to take a moment to celebrate the commitment of others in Margate, Thanet and Kent to the wider community during this very difficult time.

We hope to be able to welcome you back to Turner Contemporary soon. Stay safe, stay creative and stay well.

For queries or suggestions about how we might remain connected, please contact info@turnercontemporary.org. There are currently significantly less of us working than usual so do bear with us if our response time is slower than you might expect.
