2021 marks 10 years since the opening of the gallery. Over the next year, we will be sharing stories and reflections from the last 10 years, but more importantly, we will be looking towards the future and planning for the next 10 years and beyond.

To mark our 10th anniversary and ten years on from our first Open, this open submission exhibition will celebrate and showcase the wealth of artistic talent living, working and training in Kent.
12 November 2021 - Spring 2023
Sophie von Hellermann and Anne Ryan present Sirens, a new collaborative commission made for Turner Contemporary’s ground floor Sunley Gallery, which looks out over the North Sea. It will combine large-scale paintings by von Hellermann with Ryan’s three-dimensional painted ‘cutouts’.

Isle of Sound is the first artwork created for the new Creative Isle Community Rail Partnership, a new initiative by Turner Contemporary in collaboration with Thanet District Council and support from Southeastern.

Local school children commissioned renowned artist Conrad Shawcross to create this new major artwork for Ramsgate.

Sited in Margate, beside Turner Contemporary, you can see one of a series of one hundred, solid cast-iron figures by Antony Gormley that explore the experience of being human.
Friday 10th and Saturday 11th of December, Foyle Rooms 1 and 2
There will be the chance to hear all 7 stations – the masterwork of Isle of Sound - in The Foyle Rooms. Visitors are invited to move amongst speakers that play individual narratives, before entering a central listening zone where the combination of 7 stations form a dynamic masterwork. Artist Emily Peasgood and producer Geoffrey Papin will be present to answer questions about how the work was created with the local community, before the work closes on 17th December.

Part of a new series of digital artworks from Turner Contemporary, commissioned in response to the Covid-19 Pandemic. ‘Memory Palace Thanet’ is a video game which aims to connect communities through memory.

Running concurrently to The Open exhibition at Turner Contemporary is a collaboration with the Creative Isle Community Rail Partnership. Artworks which aren’t exhibited in the Turner Contemporary gallery spaces have been distributed on posters across the rail network at posters sites in stations across Thanet.
